After 2 years as an Investment Banker and 8 years as a full-time academic in Europe, I moved back home to the Philippines in 2017 to pursue a career as a Broadcast Journalist specialising in Business and Economic news.
I research, write, produce, and report on-cam every weekday for BusinessWorld Live and its Bloomberg TV Philippines segment on Cignal TV’s One News, part of the largest Media Conglomerate in the Philippines. Cignal is a pay TV digital provider that broadcasts to 3 million homes while its sister channel TV5 is free-to-air to the 109 million strong Philippine population.
Before it was rebranded as One News, I anchored the 2 main news broadcasts of Bloomberg TV Philippines, Starting Gate and In the Loop. In my role as anchor, I report on global and local markets using the Bloomberg Terminal and conduct interviews with investment managers, market analysts, economists, and government officials on their views on the markets and the economy. I also create digital packages from field interviews, cover relevant corporate and economic events, and represent my network as a regular host, moderator, and invited speaker of business events. I am on call to replace other anchors should the need arise and do special coverage for important events such as the National Elections. I have done close to 2,000 live broadcasts.
Outside of the newsroom, I write, produce, and host Bank On It, a weekly financial literacy TV series targeting young millennials with the objective to make financial and business concepts accessible to all.
